Custom made scrub

Hubby came to me carrying his nursing scrub top. He showed me that two of its pockets were ripped and so I told him that I will sew them so he can use the top again. This is actually the second time I am sewing this scrub so I asked him on how did he ripped his pockets. He said that it is because he put lots of stuff in it (drawer keys, pens, markers and etc.)

While I was in the middle of sewing his scrub, I thought of just buying him a new uniform and forget about the sewing. He has several scrubs with different color but I am thinking of buying a custom made scrub. Hubby is quite tall and he is so picky in buying scrubs. He likes scrubs that has lots of pockets so I think ordering a custom one is a good idea.

I like his nursing uniforms always neat and clean so I sometimes hand wash the stains that the washer can not remove. I know, I am really meticulous hehe.

DIY skirt, for my tree

Guest post written by Christy Long

I got my first sewing machine when I was a teenager and have used it off and on to make things around the house like table cloths, curtains and even costumes for my kids for school plays and Halloween. Right now I'm in the market for a new skirt for our Christmas tree, so I thought that I would put my sewing machine to use again and try and whip one up myself.

I went online to try and find a pattern for a tree skirt so I would know how much fabric I need to buy for it before I go shopping. While I was looking at different patterns, I ran across some satellite internet offers and decided to click and go ahead and order one of them for our house. Our internet speed has been driving me nuts lately, so I had been wanting to look elsewhere for internet service anyway.

I just started work on my DIY tree skirt and IÕm really excited to see already how good itÕs going to look once itÕs finished and around my tree!

12 o'clock Midnight Sale

Hubby and wasn't able to shop last Black Friday because he had to go to work and since I was so eager to go shopping (just to experience Black Friday and to shop with the crowd), I was able to convince my hubby to shopping at Walmart's 12MN Sale. We arrived at the store around 10:30PM and there was not much people but then the clock stuck 11:00, the people came in they were unstoppable to shop LOL! And of course I was one of them :p

I know that it is not exactly good to shop with the crowd but aside from the big discount that you'll get in shopping on Midnight Sale, I think its the rush that I was looking for lol! I know, I'm weird :p But we had fun on shopping that night and I want to do it again next year hehe.

Thanksgiving with Family

Author: Alex Wolfe

For most of us Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season of traveling to visit family whether driving or flying. This year my son and I are driving to Chicago to see my mom, dad, brother and his wife. Because we'll be visiting for a few days there will be time to see our extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles. There are a lot of phone calls and emails back and forth between everyone to coordinate times and places that work for us all. It's often a little crazy before we leave with trying to plan visits with everyone at the last minute. As I walk out the door for these holiday trips, I constantly remind myself to remember to set my home security alarm from adt home security monitoring so I have less to worry about while we're gone. Thankfully, my brother and his wife are going to be making the big Thanksgiving dinner this year so I only have to think about making the desserts. As much as I enjoy cooking during the holiday season, I would rather spend my time visiting with and talking to my family. Before we travel back home, I must get some shopping done in Chicago before the next round of travel to see everyone.

Pumpkin Roll Recipe

A friend of mine inspired me to make Pumpkin Roll. I saw on her Facebook a picture of pumpkin roll she made so I decided to make my own for Thanksgiving. I have never tasted Pumpkin Roll til this one that I made and I am happy that people liked the pumpkin roll.

I want Michael Kors Jacket for Christmas

Many people are going to go shopping on Black Friday to save money. I can not blame them because I also want to save money specially Christmas is getting closer. I actually already made a list of the things I need, things that I want and things that I will buy as a gift. Yeah! I am already prepared because I do not want to miss a thing I want to have and I do not want to miss to give gift to the people I love.

I love to shop whether it is Holiday or not and whether it is on sale or not. Hey! I am woman and that is what a woman supposed to be hehe! I think I will buy new pants and a watch for my hubby, more toys and clothing for our son and I want to buy a nice jacket and a purse. I already have lots of jackets but this time I want to splurge a little :D I want to have the Michael Kors Jacket. I so love Michael Kors designs and creation because they are fashionably elegant looking.

I know that that brand is a little bit pricey but there is an online store that I know where I could buy it a very good price, and that is www.Zappos.com. They offer wide variety of jackets and almost all the brands I like are in their website and not to mention, the prices are affordable.

I think this time, I would skip shopping in the store specially this Black Friday because I already know that there will be lots of people, there will be a long line, I do not want to be part of the stampede and I do not want to wake up early in the morning. I think it is better to shop online because it is very convenient, much safer and in fact, there are sales online that you can not get in the store.

A Mother's Prayer

Dear Lord,

When I was single my prayer to you was to meet the right man, prayer granted. When I got married, my next prayer was for me and my husband to have a baby, prayer granted. Before I delivery the baby, my prayer to you was to have a safe delivery, prayer granted. Thank you so much Lord for always being there with me for not failing me.

Today, I am here again asking you to please cure my son's kidney. I know I ask too much but this time I am not asking for myself, I am asking for my son who needs you . I know that you are the only one that can help and cure my son and I know that you know that all I want for my son is his own goodness.

There are times that I have to hide myself in tears in front of my happy son because I don't want to ruin his happiness and I don't want him to see me weak. Please Lord, I would rather have what my son has right now than he having the kidney problem he has. I don not care at all if I suffer from illness as long as my son is safe and healthy. I believe that you are the Divine Physician and the healer of the sick. Please have mercy on my son and bless him. Please touch him with your healing touch including all the kids that are suffering from illness.

In the name of Jesus Christ, King of Kings, please hear and bless this prayer O Heavenly Father. Amen.

I'm the Luckiest

Thanks to Lemuel Craft

My best friend and I met through a mutual friend. We have so many similar interests, so we found immediate common ground. We discuss things we love all the time. My best friend is special because he always makes sure I'm safe. He takes amazing care of me. He makes me dinner, or sometimes we even cook together! I love watching movies with him, because we always pick the same movies to watch. Because we're best friends, we even share the popcorn! We laugh at the same parts. He is a huge movie fan, so we have a pretty big collection. Sometimes I'll go visit him at work (obviously setting the security alarm at home first!information). I have to make sure our movie collection stays safe! He loves the work visits, and sometimes I'll bring him something special to eat! The other day I brought him some chocolates. He loves chocolates just like me. Yet another reason why we're best friends.

I'm really glad that I found my best friend. I'm the luckiest to have him in my life!

Wash Cloth Bunny Party Favor

My friend called last week and invited me to her niece's baby shower tomorrow. She is the one who will throw the baby shower and she also requested me to make the bunny party favor I made on my son's baby shower. This is the third time that I'll be making this bunny cloth party favor. The first time was on my son's baby shower and the second one was my niece's baby shower. I am glad that they liked the party favor I made and they are the one who are requesting me to make them on the special occasion that they will host.

I can also say that the bunny party favor that I made is evolving lol! I think it looks better and better every time I make it :D I am now thinking of selling this favor online since most of the people who have seen my work liked it. Anybody who wants to be my first customer?? lol!

Beverly Hills housewives

Guest post written by Alex Gore

When I think about the ultimate modern day housewives, the women that are on Bravo's new show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are exactly what I'd imagine them to be like. They seem to all have it really good and live in these huge beautiful houses. No I take that back, multiple houses in different locations!

I was doing a little research online with my wireless internet about the wives on teh show a few weeks ago when the show first came on TV. It ends up that Kelsey Grammar's wife that was on there got a divorce from him right when the show actually started airing. I feel bad for her because I couldn't imagine having to watch yourself going through that on national TV.

But despite that the Beverly Hills housewives seem really strong and opinionated. There has been some obvious head butting already, but thatÕs to be expected on any reality show now a days, no matter how much the people on it are trying to keep up appearances to make themselves look good.

How to remove sticker from laptop

A family friend of ours came to our house selling his mom's laptop. The laptop is kinda old but he sold it to us for only $100 so we decided to buy it so we can have another laptop in the house. I like the laptop because it looked like it was well taken cared of. The only thing I didn't like about it is the huge green ugly sticker on it. I can't stand looking at the sticker so I decided to remove it the night we bought it. Here are the steps on how I removed the sticker:

1. I gently pulled the sticker little by little.
2. I rubbed the glue residue with cotton ball with rubbing alcohol. The alcohol made it easier for me scrape the remaining residue with plastic knife.
3. After removing the residue, I applied baby oil and WD-40 to smoother the surface .
4. I wiped the surface clean with rag.

Here is the picture of before and after:

NOTE: Notice that you can still see the mark of the sticker, that is because the sticker was there for years. If the sticker was there for only less than a year, you probably won't see any mark.

I missed you Nutella!

Yes! Nutella is my favorite sandwich spread since I was a kid. I think the last time I had it was 10 years ago (no joke!).

I was bored eating the sandwich spread we have here in the house so I thought about buying Nutella. The first time I had Nutella was when I was probably 12 years old. My aunt from London always sent us Nutella every time she send balikbayan box. Nutella is expensive to buy in the Philippines specially if you are earning Peso so we only get to eat it every time my aunt send us some bottles of it.

I have been here in the US for more than 2 years now and I don't know why I never thought of buying Nutella here til last week. So when hubby and I went to Walmart, I told him I want to buy Nutella. He was like "What is Nutella? I never heard of it". I replied " Really? It is a sandwich spread. And how come you never heard of it? It is always on the commercial". So we went to the aisle of spread and gave a big smile to my hubby when I saw my favorite Nutella. He was shocked when he saw the price because it is a little bit pricey lol! and guess what? i bought the biggest jar of it :D He said it doesn't matter though as long as I am happy hehe. I so love you Nutella!! :D

Home Mortgages for individuals with bad credit

It is hard to maintain a good credit now because of the economy we have. In fact, most of the people I know lost their job and some declared bankruptcy. It is hard breaking to see people who worked hard to have a house and cars that are now being sold by them because of being laid-off, and some downgraded their lifestyle because of the bad economy. What hurts is, some people that lost their job need to sell their house because they can't pay their mortgage and they are having hard time looking for a company that will give them mortgage loan because of their bad credit.

Not all company who offers housing loan requires individual who wants to own a house a high down payment. If you would look around and do some research, there are some companies who would only require you to deposit low down payment and offers refinance.

Manny Pacquio did it again!

The speed of Manny Pacquiao is one of the reason why he won in his match versus Antonio Margarito last night. His speed and determination to win was visible in the fight. I was actually scared that Pacman might not win because Margarito is way taller than him while my hubby was so confident that Pacman would beat Margarito and hubby was right! Margarito's eyes were almost both closed while Pacman's face was still smooth hehe.

I am so glad that Pacman is making a good record history in the boxing industry plus and of course, the Philippines so proud of his success. Congratulations Pacman!!

Good quality luggage

Before I traveled going here in the USA from the Philippines, I shopped 3 luggage in the mall with my friend. I bought those cheapest luggage that was on sale thinking I would get better deal. That was the first time I bought luggage so I did not really know on what are the things to consider in buying travel luggage. I thought since the design looks well and it is affordable then that is the perfect luggage.

On the way going here in the US, I noticed how the airport staff throws all luggage in the conveyor. That is why I did not wonder if my luggage would be broken when I got them, and I was right! My 3 luggage that I just bought looked ragged and also, I found some parts of the luggage was broken.

Now that we are planning again to have a vacation, I want to buy a good quality luggage. Hartmann Luggage is the kind of luggage that I am planning to buy. It is a designer luggage that is affordable and durable at the same time, and also, it has a brand name that I can trust. Another good brands of luggage are Tumi Luggage and Rimowa Luggage. I like the tanned leather limited edition of Tumi Luggage and I like the Rimowa Salsa Air Luggage. Sometimes it is really hard to shop specially to choose on what is the best of all your favorites. I think I'll ask and consult for a help of my friend of buying luggage this time.

Beer, Wine Cooler and Milk

Hubby rarely drink so when he told me that he will go to the store to buy beer, I said Ok right away. He is too busy working so he don't have time to drink and aside from that, he totally slowed down in drinking when he met me. I think he only drink twice this year, including tonight. When he said that he will buy beer, I also asked him to buy me fruity drinks with low alcohol. I don't really drink alcoholic drinks and the last time I drank was last year, Valentine's Day.

I came out with an idea of taking pictures of the drinks my family had tonight.

The Library is More Than Just a Place to Find Books

Guest post of the week by Monte Dominguez

Over the last several years, the library has become my home away from home. Before I leave, I set my home security alarm from securitychoice.com, as I know I will be there for hours. As a freelance writer, the library offers me everything I need to get the job done.

What makes the library the perfect place to work is that it is quiet. At home, I am constantly subjected to annoying phone calls, the dog barking, or someone stopping in unannounced. Going to the library means I can actually work in peace.

Of course, as the library is filled with books, magazines, and other data, researching a subject that I am writing about is very easy. Not only that, if I am having difficulty finding the information, the librarian is always more than willing to help me out.

Patten Free Library in Bath, Maine has been a part of my life for years. First, I visited when I was doing a paper for school. When I had my children, the library became a weekend favorite, as they, too, discovered a love of reading. While it seems hard to believe that over thirty years have passed since I first step foot in the library, I know that it will remain a big part of my life until I can no longer hold the book or write anymore.

Chicken Afritada

I cooked Chicken Afritada yesterday because I want to at least cheer up a friend of mine who is depress because of the bad health condition of her son. I know that this food will not gonna heal her son but I know for sure that having the food that she had been missing will put a smile on her face. The visit yesterday was unplanned and was all of a sudden so I had to defrost the chickens right away. I am glad that not only my friend liked the Chicken Afritada I cooked but also my dad-in-law. In fact, he asked me to cook it again tonight, and this time, he made me cooked 2 pots of it :D

Halloween 2010

I was really busy this past few days that is why I am late in posting. Five days before Halloween, I decided on NOT to be Lady Gaga. I have the wigs and accessories I bought online but I just feel like I don't want to be her on Halloween.

Three days before Halloween, Hubby and I with our son went to stores to go shopping. I noticed the adult onesies hanging in the sleepwear section of the store. At first, I pointed it to hubby and laughed at it. Then we realized that it looked so comfortable to wear inside the house for winter. I tried wearing one of the onesies in the fitting room and I laughed at myself when I saw myself wearing it. Hubby and I bought adult onesies for the two of us just for the heck of having them and feel warmer on winter. When we got back home, hubby wore his onesies and said "No wonder babies like to wear this sleepwear". I told him "Common! show it to dad!". Dad came home and start laughing at my hubby, and said "I wish I could have one of those because it looks warm and comfy" Then I told dad "Ain't we just talked about onesies for adult few days ago?" He replied "Yeah!" I asked him "Are you really serious that you want to have one of these?" He said "Oh yeah! I will wear one if I have one". Sometimes it is hard to tell whether my dad-in-law is telling the truth or he is joking around so I thought he wasn't serious when he said that he wished that there are onesies for adult because he would wear one. We didn't buy him onesies because I thought that he was joking. Anyway, hubby will go back to the store tonight to buy him one.

The next day, I was still thinking of what to wear for Halloween and it came on my mind that I can wear the onesies that I just bought then use the Lady Gaga wig, carry a teddy bear and suck lollipop then I can be a BIG BABY! This is what I turned out to be last Halloween.

I end up being happy at the night of trick-or-treat because I had the most comfiest and warmest adult costume in town :D Sometimes you just really need to be resourceful and creative in looking for costume :)

Living My Dream

Content by Hipolito Hopkins

When I was a child I performed in a variety of plays and tried out for many out of town events as well. Even in college I acted here and there, but it all ended quickly when my parents passed away. After they so sadly left me, I stopped acting all together and going to school. Today I think of it as a big mistake and If I could turn back time and change it I would. Once a month I walk down town to the local theater to watch a play in memory of my mother and father. Before I leave my house I say I prayer, eat dinner and then I set my home security alarm (ADT Security pricing) as I walk out the door. I always walk down town because the parking is always to complicated to even try and find a spot. I usually arrive there about 15 minutes before the show starts; just enough time to get coffee and relax in my seat. So far every show I have been to at the theater has been above and beyond all my expectations. I believe my parents would be proud if they knew I still had a part in my dream and didn't let it completely die.

Willow Smith on Ellen DeGeneres

I was really astounded after watching Willow Smith performed her debut song "Whip my Hair" on Ellen DeGeneres Show. I have seen her music video and I liked it but her live performance on Ellen made me more liked the song. And would you believe that this was also her first live performance on stage? Smith family is really a very talented family.
